View Full Version : Anyone got a welder to do an exhaust spot weld?

My VXR centre section is just slipped over the front section from the cat, and after I adjusted the length on Friday has started to make a knocking noise when at about 1500rpm.

I'm just wondering if anyone has the welding kit who would be willing to help me spot weld this joint so it doesn't vibrate?

I'm in Kirkintilloch, but don't mind travelling within reason ;).

What kind of welder you looking for Phil??

I have a portable arc welder in my work's van and got the rest of them in my workshop but obviously im miles away from you*lol*

I really don't know much about welding lol:rolleyes:.

What sort of weld would I need on an exhaust i.e . in situ, with system on the car and doing a couple of spot wolds to hold the joint in place?

TBH most of them MIG or TIG them Phil - someone has bound to have one locally for you to borrow, or else their is the Simon option??

Spoke to Simon this afternoon, but I'm not able to make it down to him for when he's available for another week or so, and I really need to get this sorted soonest!

Anyone a bit closer with Mig or Tig welder that could help out?

hi m8 a got ma exhaust done down in ayr elite custom exhausts guys is class maca will have his no if its any good m8.

be quicker going to simons buddy rathere than coming away down to ayr for a spot weld any local garage or exhaust place should be able to sort you out tho buddy

I went to a local exhaust place this afternoon and they said they wouldny do that sort of thing. Just fit new units!!

Spoke to Simon, but unable to fit me in until mornings which I can't do just now.

I'll try another few local places tomorrow, but failing that I'm open to travelling to get it sorted :cool:.

Hopefully I can get it sorted locally, but good to keep as a back-up :D.
