Ok then guys, thanks to having plenty of time for our rolling road day and me going to another one shortly i'm looking for some ideas to get the 2.2 up on power.

Currently I'm running
K&N panel filter + airbox mod
Steinbauer tuning box on setting 2 of 3 (so obviously i'll up that)
Shell diesel extra with millers diesel sport 4
The power just now stands at 141BHP 257lb/ft torque

All suggestions will be taken into account and i'd like to crack 150bhp at least

Well john you shouldnt be too far away with a custom exhaust system, possibly 3" probably best asking POGO tho he seems too know everything about power ;p
Hmmm is there bluefin for the 2.2?
Intercooler?
Would you not get the figures you desire just turning the box right up buddy?

Dont know how far the DTI's can go tbh, but 160PS is not unrealistic but probably the max. Think the fuel pump may start to give issues not 100% sure, but no doubt someone will be along to show me the error of that statement.

I like your thinking, decat 3 inch system with just a single exit or do you thin2 a duel would make much of a difference.

By intercooler i take it you mean a front mounted inter cooler and do away with the standard one.

No bluefin/re-maps/bsr or anything for the 2.2 sadly

probably mate, but i'm young, stupid and have some cash behind me, if I blow the pump I'll buy a new one and won't do it again lol

Nitrous is sitting in the back of my skull too :D:eek: (not literally of course)

i asked similar questions when i had mine all i got told was the pumps are very fragile and very expensive . i never had any luck with chips but remaps seem to be better on paper if the pump (vp44) holds out
sorry to be negitive

Decat on the dti's are ment to free it up a bit also the standard centre section will choke it to, so i would be looking at a new system first of all.
And see where that takes you..

Front mount: your has a standard front mount for now dont it? maybe upgrade to larger capacity... then turn up the box?

Twin exit shouldnt affect it mate, or id be getting a centre exit system, yea someone must make a front mounted I/C for it, if not you could get a custom 1 but probably a lot of money for little gains, but again you only get 1 so you can run more power while keeping the engine cool, and they look the dugs, lol,
Id imagine with a 3" decat and your box turned up you will get good gains,
Engine transplant is another route but thats getting rediculous now lol, sorry

 @ Gazza

Well it's inbetween the coolant rad/aircon. Thought a proper front mouted one may be better, possibly even remove the lower front grill.

Was thinking exhaust wise of going from the down pipe straight through back to a single silencer at the back

No matter what keep lookin into it - would be interesting to see a DTI past the 150PS mark. ;)

I found a how2 on another site to fit a FMIC so just need to find one now.

So where is the firstly best and secondly cheap place to get a 3" exhaust done?

Think i'll try turning the box up 2moz aswell

loads of performance and loads a smoke, will give a tailgater something to think about before he gets smarmy - with all that smoke in his face, after you shoot away. :D:D

Ok had a brainwave. If I were to fit a right hand back box (2.0t,2.2direct,3.0cdti,3.2gsi) and decat/straight though pipe would that help. That would mean that the restrictiveness of the single back box would be helped out by the addition of another box.

It would also keep the motor standard looking (thats the main aim)

Me personally i would throw the standard stuff to the skip mate...anything standard is a restrictor...although with the decat it will flow better.

john.robertson2
07-10-09, 18:05
I see what you are saying buddy but surely two standard exits will be less restricted than one:confused:
