my car is a 2003 vectra 2.2petrol sxi 54000 miles and has just developed gear/clutch problems, i have been to a few garages and they askin is it clutch or cylinder, is it solid or flywheel or summit, anyways best price i got is £97 for clutch £110 for labour, so im asking for advice please

1. can i get reconditioned parts anywhere, if i can get clutch and cylinder for same price id be happy.

2. can the job be done myself, like is it a case of changing parts over, or do engines n stuff need to be supported.

3. is there a way to determine if its clutch or cylinder without paying sum1 lots of money to tell me that.

thanx in advance for any advice.

after a bit more resarch an asking around the problem seems to be the slave cylinder as there is no problems at all while im driving along, its only the gear changes which are difficult, is it recommened to bleed it first or have it replaced , can this job be done myself, i noticed a little fluid on a rubber thing behind clutch pedal, is this cylinder? how do i bleed it, do i do it inside car, or underneath it?? plz help im skint and trying to save as much as poss, im not totally clueless as i have tackled a starter motor, propshaft, wheel hub on my last car which was a toyota lucida, thanx again for any help.
